Puy du fou
The family-run, 4-star Les Alouettes campsite near Saint Gilles Croix De Vie is doing its utmost to increase the visibility of its advertising within the campsite, so that the famous Puy Du Fou park is highlighted.
The Vendée is home to France’s 1st historical theme park: Le Puy Du Fou. This park also offers a night-time show called Cinéscénie, which retraces the history of the Vendée through the eyes of the Maupilier family. Le Puy du Fou belongs to the commune of Les Epesses in the Vendée bocage. Just a few kilometers from Les Herbiers and Cholet, Le Puy du Fou is only 45 minutes from La Roche sur Yon and an hour from Nantes and Angers.
Created in 1978 by Mr Philippe de Villiers, the Cinescénie brings together 3,400 volunteers known as Puyfolais, and takes place on a 23-hectare stage facing the public. The grandstand seats 14,000, providing entertainment for over 400,000 spectators every year. Famous actors have lent their voices, including Gérard Depardieu, Robert Hossein and Philippe Noiret…..
In 1989, just next to the Cinescénie, on 50 hectares of land, the Grand Parc was created. Today, in terms of visitor numbers, it’s the second-largest park in France, behind DISNEYLAND. Le Puy Du Fou has twice hosted the Tour de France: in 1993 and 1999. In 2009, the Puy Du Fou hosted the election of Miss France, in what is now a legendary location.
